Two models are available for the quantification of myocardial blood flow from 13NH3 ammonia bolus PET data, the 1-tissue compartment model and the 2-tissue compartment model with metabolic trapping. The 1-tissue model is preferably used with the first 2-4 minutes of a dynamic measurement, while the 2-tissue model is also adequate for longer durations. This may compensate to some extent the increased vulnerability to identifiability problems due to the higher number of fit parameters in the 2-tissue model.
