The brain glucose metabolism can be investigated with radioactively labeled glucose. There are two models available for the quantification of 18F-Deoxy-Glucose (FDG) data. One requires a dynamic acquisition, the other only a single static scan, but both require that the FDG activity in blood is sampled from the time of injection until the end of the acquisition.
Two other models can be applied for data from quantitative autoradiography experiments with 14C labeled glucose. One model assumes a constant plasma glucose level, while the other can account for changes.
