Assumptions

The results of a one-way ANOVA can be considered reliable as long as the following assumptions are met:

• the response variable (the dependent variable) are normally distributed (or approximately normally distributed).
• the samples are independent.
• the variances of populations are equal.

The assumptions need to be checked before carrying out a one-way Anova analysis.
